Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. This was the moment that she received recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted her music on the internet in 2012. Her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to use it in conjunction with Rihanna. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna was hired to Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two singles more were released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019 a music video was released for the song. It already has more than three millions views on YouTube in its initial week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
